I have photographed the factory Nestlé in Tutbury in Burton on Trent.
Throughout the day I was taken to various places of the factory and was only allowed to photograph some of the lines running there, not everything there was photographed.
When I managed to take pictures of the factory I took images of people working, the objects what were being created inside of the Dolche Gusto, The conveyor belts, the cylinders inside the capsules. Aluminium pieces, people at their offices working, people looking at plans on what to do and what needs doing,
People who stand around for a moment and have a laugh with their friends, fortunately I was able to experience a fire alarm which brought workers outside so I images them together. People working on computer lines and people fixing machines.
My idea changed quite rapidly and quickly, it took me a whole to actually get information on whether I could actually g into the factory to take the pictures so whilst I was waiting on their acceptance, I was thinking of a back up plan if I was not to get into the factory; I decided to think that I wanted to take images of construction work as I already had found an artist what deals with that sort of photography. I thought this was a great idea and perused it. A few days before the deadline I was told that I could take the tour around the factory and that I was able to take images of certain things but not everything. My idea then fell back onto the original plan of taking images around the factory and seeing if I could also take some images of the construction men at the same time.
The equipment I have used for this assignment are, a Canon 1100D, if I was to improve this shoot I would take location lighting and also a flashgun and a tripod.
One artist who has influenced me and my work is Lars Tubnjork his work is fasinating, one of the images i really like is the one where there are people undfr the table and there are work sheets all over the floor; I like the way that the boss is walking in the background as well whilst there is a sneaky woman on the phone as well under the table what shows irony of no cells phones at work.
Another artist what has inspired me is Thomas Demand , in one of his images ot is just a picture of a photocopier which really stands out to me that sometimes you dont need allot in an image to really capture the audiences eye. This photo has inspired me to take images of still life objects in the work place which I have put into place.
I would say i am quite happy with my final images. I think they give a good operspective of what you can find in a different kind of factory, unlike others where it is all machinery, yes there was machinery in this factory but I think taking images of what surrounds the location and the people in it can be more important and more innteresting as they work the place manually.
