Artist Research 6 Andreas Gursky

Andreas Gursky (born January 15, 1955) is a German visual artist known for his large format architecture and landscape color photographs, often employing a high point of view.

Andreas Gursky did not actually digitally manipulate his images. In the years since, Andreas Gursky has been frank about his reliance on computers to edit and enhance his pictures, creating an art of spaces larger than the subjects photographed.

For Andreas work I am really attracted to his type of work. When I look at his work they all look quite similar but at the same time they all are completely different.
This image to me stands out because of whats going on simply.
The way there is so much crammed into the image but still looks understandable and readable really grabs my attention and throughout the image it is splashed with colour.

I find this image really captivating. through out his other work it seems to be images of industry, business and busyness but this just shouts out cal mess and tranquility.
There are many aspects of composition in this image, there is the simple use of colour such as grey and green, and you don't really need another colour to suit this image.
The use of lines going from left to right is great use of composition and also distance.

This image has been well put together because it makes me want to know what lighting was used for the making of this image.
I think that the distance is the perfect amount as you want to see the people in the building.
(you wouldn't want to be too far away)
I like how this could have been turned into black and white but I am happy he kept this colour because there are different colour aspects throughout the windows of this building.

This image is really good and I think that it is really effective. Even though there isn't allot going on in the photo shouts subtlety.
It makes you want to know more about the image, such as where was it taken? was the colour origionally?.

This image really inspires me because I want to take this image and change it slightly which will be my drawn image for my Unit 4 piece.
Like my other artist research on Eric Drooker I want to use this image as influence as well for the background to be building and also that in front of it is quite plainness' so I can do whatever I want with the front part of the image.
